STEPS

Login to the Campus PCs

When you first login to a Campus PC using your Student ID Number and the Default Password, you need to change the password. Once you have changed the password, use your new password for all TAFE online services, e.g. Office 365, Student Portal, Blackboard, etc. 

Login to the Campus PCs for the first time as follows:

Username:            Student ID Number
Password:            Default Password 

 

  • Your Student ID Number will begin with a J or V, and is followed by 6 numbers, e.g. J123456 as it appears on your Student ID Card
     
  • Your Default Password will be Tafe (with a capital T) and your date of birth in DDMMYYYY format, e.g. Tafe24021980
  • Students must change their Default Password when they first login (either to a Campus PC or to Office 365)
     
  • Your New Password must be 8 or more characters long, include uppercase letters, lowercase letters and numbers, e.g. Welcome123
  • You will be prompted to change your password every 90 days

About the Campus PCs
 

  • Computers are to be used for educational purposes and by NMT students or staff only
     
  • Students must abide by the terms and conditions of the College's computer user policy when using the computers
     
  • The computers have internet access and Office software, as well as other programs
     
  • Students are reminded to save their work onto a USB or to Office 365 and should never save it onto the desktop

Login to the Campus WiFi

Remember to login to a Student PC and change your password before connecting to the WiFi for the first time.  After the password is changed, you can access the WiFi on your smart device.


Login to your Smart Device WiFi

Apple iOS

Settings > Wi-Fi > Select Student WiFi
Enter username = Student ID Number 
Enter password = New Password
Join > Trust > Tick confirms connection to WiFi

Android

Settings > Wi-Fi > Student WiFi > 
Identity = Student ID Number
Password = New Password

 

  • You will be prompted to change your password every 90 days  
     
  • Smart devices save passwords, so if you have changed your password, choose "Forget This Network” and you will be able to login to the Student WiFi with your new password

About the Campus WiFi

The WiFi only gives you access to the Internet. You cannot print from the WiFi. 

On iOS Devices 

Settings > Wi-Fi > Student WiFi > ⓘ > Forget This Network

On Android Devices

Settings > Wi-Fi > Student WiFi > Tap & hold > Forget This Network

Login to Office 365

If not already changed on the Campus PCs, students can login to Office 365 to change their passwords at: https://outlook.office365.com 
 

Login to Office 365 for the first time as follows:

Email Login:         Student ID Number@tafe.wa.edu.au 
Password:            Default Password 

 

  • Your Student ID Number will begin with a J or V, and is followed by 6 numbers, e.g. J123456 as it appears on your Student ID Card
     
  • Your Default Password will be Tafe (with a capital T) and your date of birth in DDMMYYYY format, e.g. Tafe24021980

About Office 365

Office 365 includes the online version of Microsoft Office as well as:

  • Student email account
  • Microsoft's OneDrive (1Tb storage)
  • Other Microsoft programs, e.g. Yammer, SharePoint and more
     

Office 365 is available on and off campus at: https://outlook.office365.com

You can download Office 2016 to your home computer or laptop for free.

First time users need to set up:

  • Language: English-Australia
  • Time zone: Perth is UTC +8
  • Security options for password recovery using either your personal email address or mobile number


You lose access to Office 365 six months after completing the last unit. Copy any documents to be retained.

Login to the Student Portal

Once your password is changed, you can login to the Student Portal at: https://studentportal.nmtafe.wa.edu.au 
 

Login to the Student Portal as follows:

Username:           Student ID Number
Password:            New Password             

For example, if your Student ID Number is J123456 and your New Password is Welcome123 you would login to the Student Portal as follows:

Username:               J123456
Password:                Welcome123
