HealthTalk Australia

HealthTalk interviewed 56 people (including six couples) about their experiences of ageing. Our researchers travelled to urban and regional areas throughout Australia to talk to people in their own homes. Participants spoke about what is important to them as they age; and what it feels like to be getting older – physically, mentally and in their social context. They talked about their changing personal relationships, pragmatic life decisions, health, illness and death.

Reviews and Reforms

The Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety has been set up to look at the quality of aged care services and whether those services are meeting the needs of the Australian community. This includes:

  • care for older people living at home
  • people living with dementia, and
  • people living in residential aged care including younger people with disabilities.
