NATECLA Scotland ESOL Literacies Readers

NATECLA Scotland has created a set of ONLINE Readers designed primarily for ESOL Literacies Learners.

Utilising the BOOKCREATOR.COM platform, we’ve launched with 22 books that you can use with your learners – in class, as homework or as an extra to your lessons.

They have roughly been set at Literacies 1 and 2 (SQA) – but some people may find them useful for low level Beginner learners too.

Namaste Book Series - Intermediate Readers

Six people tell of seeking asylum in Australia, fleeing their homeland under dangerous circumstances, living in limbo, and leaving everything behind for a new life in Tasmania. The stories are deeply moving, and deal with the themes of family, community, freedom and independence.

Family, School, Life Series - Beginner Readers

eBooks from Bow Valley College (Canada) - All Reading Levels

Includes 40 titles organised into 7 levels, suitable for ESL literacy learners at different stages of development. The text, structure and vocabulary increase in difficulty. At the lower levels, the learner is supported with large photographs and simple sentences. Higher level stories are written in paragraphs with more complex language and ideas. The readers are available in a digital format and contain audio files.

Resource Materials for Lecturers

For each eBook above, there are 10 photocopiable worksheets.
