Australian Standards have Digital Rights Management and this affects how you access and use the Standards available through South Metropolitan TAFE.
See our handy Troubleshooting guide and helpsheets on this page for more information and assistance with these changes.
You are logged in as an anonymous user, but can create an optional account here if you wish. This allows you to access additional features.
Click on the title screen below to access the troubleshooting guide or select the PDF to download a copy. This will help you find the right helpsheet for your issue. A helpsheet can also be selected below.
The guide can be used as a self-help checklist before you report an issue to the library.
Choose the helpsheet you want below. If you are not sure what helpsheet is the one you need, use our Trouble-shooting Guide
If you are trying to access standards on the student network at TAFE or off campus on your own devices use this helpsheet
If you are accessing standards on the staff network, ensure you have downloaded the FileOpen Plug in from the ICT Application Portal. This allows the standard to open. Use these helpsheets to get set up correctly.
If you are trying to access offsite or on a mobile device, then check if your set-up is correct, that you have installed the FileOpen Plug in from the Standards Australia database, and that you have Acrobat Reader installed. Use these helpsheets to guide you through the process
When reading a Standard you may need to set your browser to open in Acrobat Reader. (Note for staff - you may need to change the setting back to the default to view payslips or other online documents)
If the Standard opens but you see scrambled text, then you need to open the file without a number is brackets on the end of the file name.
If you cannot see that file, then were you sent an attachment, or are you accessing on a shared drive? These will not display correctly because of the digital rights management (DRM). Please access the database directly and download again.
