Triangles

The different types of triangles. Triangles sorted by side. Equilateral triangles have three equal sides all angles are sixty degrees. Isosceles triangles have two equal sides and two equal angle and Scalene triangles have no equal sides and no equal angles. And triangles identified by Angle include, Right triangles, where one angle is ninety degrees, acute triangles, where all angles have less than ninety degrees and finally obtuse triangles, where one angle greater than ninety degrees.

Other Shapes and Calculations

An illustration of quadrilaterals, or four sided shapes. Showing, from left to right on the top row: Irregular quadrilateral as it is called in U K English or Trapezium in U S A, no sides are parallel. A Trapezium as it is called in the U K, or Trapezoid as it is called in the U S A, where two sides are parallel. An isosceles trapezium - U K or isosceles trapezoid U S A, where one pair of opposing sides of the shape are opposite and the other pair are parallel. And on the second row, A Kite, which has two pairs of adjacent sides that are of equal length, a rhombus, which has four sides of equal length but the angle of adjacent corners are different. A rectangle where each corner has a 90 degree angle. And finally, a square, where all four sides are equal and all four corners are 90 degrees.
