  • When an entry has no identified author, the entry title may be used in the author position.

Subsequent in-text references: (AMH, n.d.)

  • Organisation names can be abbreviated if the abbreviation is commonly used, but must be given in full the first time they are referenced, with the abbreviation in square brackets. 
    • In subsequent references, the abbreviation can be used.
    • The abbreviation is not included in the reference list citation.

Provide the name of the database when it publishes works that are available only in that database. This includes the JBI database subscribed to by the library. The types of material in the JBI database vary, so reference formats will be differ depending on the source material.

  • JBI Best Practice Information sheets, Systematic Reviews and Systematic Review Protocols are published as journals by JBI, so should be referenced as journal articles.
  • Some JBI articles are only specific to your session, so include the URL of the database login page.
  • Information in square brackets indicates the type of material.
  • The name of the database is included because it is only available through this database.

Provide the name of the database when it publishes works that are available only in that database. This includes the UpToDate database subscribed to by the library.

  • The name of the database is included and is italicised.
  • UpToDate articles are specific to the session, so include the URL of the database login page.
  • UpToDate articles require the retrieval date as these are updated regularly, and previous versions are not archived.
